A Wargaming Weekend

BattleTex is a war game convention held annually in Houston, Texas,
hosted by the Texas War Department.

Over a three day weekend in January, guests are invited to play games face-to-face in a quiet, distraction-free environment. Details can be found below. To join us, just follow these steps:

  1. Register.
  2. Pay for admission and any extras with the buttons below.
  3. Sign up for scheduled games, schedule your own, or enter the draft as a free agent player!

There are two ways to sign up to play a game or organize a game:

You only need to add your game or player to one of those lists. We will copy all changes from one list to the other.

We will have a library of mostly war games that were previously donated. We ask that you sign them out, but really it is an honor system.

Coming from the EAST:

  • Exit Hwy 6/FM 1960.
  • Stay on the feeder road through the FM 1960 light.
  • Hotel will be on your right.

Coming from the WEST:

  • Exit Huffmeister Rd.
  • Stay on the feeder through the Huffmeister Rd light.
  • Take a U-turn under the freeway at Hwy 6/FM 1960 to get on the west-bound feeder road.
  • Hotel will be on your right.
We have 10 rooms blocked at the hotel: 5 king suites and 5 double queens suites, for single and double occupancy as applicable. Room cost is $92 per night + 15% tax. Reservations include free breakfast each morning. Each room has a refrigerator and small kitchen. If we need more rooms we will be able to get them at the same rate. Book online and use the code BattleTex at checkout.
Parking is free.

ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED. That requires a police officer and we don't want to pay for that.

You can bring your own food and drink into the conference area. Free coffee and water will be provided throughout each day.

Heffernan BBQ has agreed to return for the third year. They are becoming a BattleTex tradition. They have been on the Food Network. It is delicious food. We encourage you to buy two plates on Saturday. One for lunch and one for dinner.

There are plenty of restaurants and fast food joints within a 10-15 minute drive.

When you register, you may preorder Friday night dinner of Whataburger and fries for $10.

We are responsible for cleaning the conference room of our trash and food. Hotel staff will change out trash can liners throughout each day.

We will have an open flea market. If you want to sell, please submit a Flea Market Form with your contact information and list of games.

We will be giving away several games through a raffle. Each registrant will receive one free raffle ticket. You can purchase more tickets at the convention for $1 each, or pre-purchase raffle tickets at registration for a better deal: 7 for $5, 15 for $10, or 40 for $20. Each game will have a basket next to it in which to place your raffle tickets.

We are selling BattleTex III T-shirts! Shirts are $20 each, paid when you register. They must be pre-ordered to guarantee one. Shirts are black print on a gray field. They are thick cotton and hold up very well. We will have extras to sell at the door but cannot guarantee availability or sizes. We will have shirts from previous years for sale at the door as well.
